Filled Under: awareness, Campaign
We pay attention to a lot of things about our children; their body, their studies, their playmates etc, but little attention is paid to their mentality.
How well do you know your child's mental state? What does she/he think about when alone or with friends? How does he/she relate with others compared to you? What kind of personality does he/she exhibit? Is he/she growing mentally? Do you pressurize him/her; academically, morally, spiritually, etc.
These and more are questions every parent should be able to provide (near) accurate responses to.
Did you know? That:
- Around 70% and 80%of children that suffer abuse develop a mental health problem (Soma & Psy network)
- Malnutrition or an unbalanced diet makes children more vulnerable in developing a physical or mental illness (Soma & Psy network)
- Children that live in poverty in cities experience a higher level of depression and anxiety than the average urban pollution (Soma & Psy network)
- 50% of mental health problems are established by age 14 and 75% by age 24 (Mental health foundation, UK)
- 10% of children and young people (aged 15-16) have a clinically diagnosable mental problem yet 70% of them have not had appropriate interventions at sufficient early age (Mental health foundation, UK)
