#DressAChild'18: We Are Set To Dress A Child Again!

It is with great expectation and hope that we set ourselves to hold the second edition of our project tagged "Dress A Child" where over 100 indigent pupils of public schools are provided with school uniforms, school socks, sandals, socks, undervest and underpants including other educational materials to aid their studies and focus effectively.
 The belief that every child deserves to be well-dressed, well educated and good looking has led us to consider this project as one of utmost importance to our foundation and it also helps us in achieving the promotion of the academic and socioeconomic welfarism of the less-privileged children in our society.
  This edition is however projected to be bigger and better as we aim to take the project beyond the 2 schools we're providing for in Lagos state by identifying a public school in kwara state, where we can also bring smiles and hopes to the needy kids.
  The outreach is set to hold this October and it is our dear wish and hope that it will be a recorded success for us and our beneficiaries.
 Words alone cannot express our gratitude to all our donors, supporters and well wishers. This would only remain a dream without your stretched hands and kind souls. May God bless you all in abundance.

#SheMatters: Challenges Plaguing The Girl Child

"The Girl Child"  has become one of the most talked about issues in recent years, due to the realization that particular challenges being faced by a typical girl Child mar her future and makes her less productive for her society.

We therefore start an online campaign, to raise mire awareness on some of these challenges, ranging from her education, health, abuses, child bride, fkrced marriages, Female Genital Mutilation, among others.

The aim behind this campaign as earlier stated is to raise more awareness on what a girl Child faces, feeding on her vulnerability as "the lesser sex". Also, to use it as a means of uplifting and empowering her beyond the stereotyped "weaker vessel" tag.

We intend to hold an awareness walk after the completion of this online campaign by middle of April; God's willing.

Update: #SaveKhadija, A Year Later.

Today, we remember the little 3-year-old girl, (as reported by us last November) that was kidnapped exactly a year ago around Kuje area of Abuja, Nigeria.

Nana Kadija, as fondly called by her parents was snatched from her father's hands on their way way from school on an unfateful afternoon last November. Her father, Umar Sulaiman, quickly took to Facebook to announce the sad incident, imploring people to assist in finding his daughter.

A year after, the little girl is yet to be found and her parents still yearn for her return. A month hardly pass without the father putting up a post about her on his Facebook page. According to some posts on her father's facebook page, the father narrated some similar incidents in the same area. Below are some of his statements.

"I performed my Jummat prayer at Kuje, after the prayer the Imam announced the abduction of a boy on Tuesday. While yesterday Thursday 16th Nov. two boys aged 3 and 5years were abducted at Karmo. Well, like I always tell affected parents, we are on our own. Until the high and mighty in the society is affected, they will always look the other side.

"It is exactly a year today and still no sign of you." - 19th Nov.

"I know some people are aware of the 25 rescued children from a false orphanage in Gwagwalada. The police in kafanchan intercepted two cars conveying those children. On interrogation the drivers say they were asked to deliver them to an orphanage at Gwagwalada. So the kafanchan police had to bring them and the children so they could identify the said orphanage. All the children there were taken to Gwagwalada police station where two parents were about to identify and collect their children, while others were returned back to kafanchan. I traveled to kafanchan on Sunday to see if I could my Khadija. She is not among them. But some thing struck me. I was able pick the face of a little girl among them I have seen somewhere. Yesterday, I was able to remember the face. Sometime in December last year when I was going from orphanage to orphanage looking for my daughter, I saw this very girl and others. The condition in the said orphanage, where I saw two pregnant women among the children raise my suspicion. I reported to my IPO, at force head area 10 of my findings. He said since I didn't find my daughter, I shouldn't report to the DCO. Now, it is that very orphanage that is in the center of the 25 rescued children. I come here to let the general public know so that those involve in this abduction and sale of children no matter how highly placed they're will be brought to justice. I also know some orphanage with some questionable motives, but if only there is a dedicated security persons who are wiling and ready.  Khadija, the pain of been without u, will be for life. My happiness evaporated with ur abduction. GOD'S judgment will be the best for ur abductors in this world and hereafter. Just thought of u and tears follow freely.

Umar Suleiman  believes that there's a woman heading the kidnappers syndicate, a few days ago, he said "This evil woman and her syndicates who specializes in the abduction of children between the ages of 1-  5 years are back. About six days ago she abducted a 2year old girl in Mararaba. A week before it was a little boy at Masaka. She has caused so much pain to me and my family. And seeing her causing more pain to other families is making me go crazy. Since the inspector general of police has failed to apprehend these syndicate,we the affected parents have decided to do what ever it takes.

He also implores people to be on the look out, he added,  "Please they usually operate on weekends. While  on week days they target children go islamiyya schools between 4 - 6pm. I will be going to seeing the families of these two recently abducted children, I will keep you posted." he said.

NobleHeart Children Foundation Set to Love A Child Again!

To love a child should be an everyday job, one which nobody should easily get tired of. It is important that a child is made to feel loved and accepted in his society as this would assist his psychological development and help him develop his self worth, propelling him to greater heights and molding him to be a good agent of change in the society.

The NobleHeart Children Foundation, as a charity organization with focus on promoting the social, economic, academic and health welfare of children in the country presents the second edition of her season charity outreach tagged : Love A Child.

The first edition of the program held on Friday, 16th December 2015 and upto a hundred pupils of a public school with inclusive unit for special need children in Agege, Lagos, were celebrated and loved by us.

The smiles we saw pasted on their faces was our recorded success.

We're set to Love A Child again, in a 2-day event slated for Thursday 14th and Saturday 16th December 2017.

A selected orphanage would be visited for day one while the second day would be dedicated to marking our first anniversary, fundraising and awarding certificate of excellence to great members.

To love a child is a collective duty of all, so please help us Love A Child this season and always!

VITGA set to host Empower Her Conference 2017

Vibrant Teen Girls Academy (VITGA), a Youth-led non-profit making and non-governmental organization with an operational base in Lagos set up to build a strong foundation for the future of the next generation of female leaders, is set to organize  an event called "Empower Her Project".

The Empower Her Project is a two-phased programme consisting of the Pen Power Contest and Empower Her Conference.
The Pen Power Contest is a writing contest to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child.

VITGA envisions a Nigeria where rape, school drop-out among girls, premarital sex as well as teenage pregnancy will reduce to its barest minimum.

The organization supports the right of a girl child as well as train and educate girls on digital skills, ICT, sexual education, self development, entrepreneurship, and leadership in a bid to equip the girls with skills that can foster sustainable development and ensuring women participation in decision making.

It also organises skill acquisition or vocational programs and Health talks where pressing issues relating to reproductive health of women are channelled.

#EndTetanus: How we took the huge step to End Tetanus in our society

On Saturday, 14th October 2017, a war was waged against the deadly disease - Tetanus. Recall in this post where we informed that Nigeria is one of the few countries in the world where Tetanus is still claiming lives, due to neglect, poor health facilities, inadequate orientation on such deadly diseases among others. And we also informed about our desire to put an end to the disease through Awareness and vaccination exercise.

Our aim was achieved, as over 200 volunteers filled the streets of Lagos, idi Araba - Mushin axis, at about 9am on Saturday, for an awareness walk against Tetanus. People were educated, flyers, hand bills and posters were distributed to passersby, shop owners, residents among others, to further aid their understanding on the need to get vaccinated against Tetanus.

The residents were informed by volunteers to attend the vaccination exercise to start by 12 at the idi Araba garage.

There we had over 200 adults and children respectively vaccinated against Tetanus, routine medical checks, malaria screening and dental checks were carried out on them as well as drug administration by competent pharmacists.

The event was a great achievement for us as we were able to successfully wage a collective war against the lethal disease. More is still to come by God's grace.

Since 2012, 11 October has been marked as the International Day of the Girl. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls' empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.

The world’s 1.1 billion girls are a source of power, energy, and creativity – and the millions of girls in emergencies are no exception. This year’s International Day of the Girl (IDG) on October 11 marks the beginning of a year-long effort to spur global attention and action to the challenges and opportunities girls face before, during, and after crises.

The campaign to End Tetanus in our society is real and progressing. We have successfully made people in our environment aware of the need to get vaccinated against the deadly disease. #EndTetanus: Collective War To Eradicate Tetanus In Our Society

Tetanus is an uncommon disease in developed countries, in the United States for instance, there is only an average of 30 reported cases each year. Reverse is the case here in Nigeria, as the deadly disease still claim lots of lives in annual reports. 

Tetanus is a serious bacterial infection that affects the nervous system and causes muscles throughout the body to tighten. It’s also called lockjaw because the infection often causes muscle contractions in the jaw and neck. However, it can eventually spread to other parts of the body.

Tetanus is different from other vaccine-preventable diseases because it does not spread from person to person. The bacteria are usually found in soil, dust, and manure and enter the body through breaks in the skin — usually cuts or puncture wounds caused by contaminated objects.

According to the Association of Medical Students, University of Lagos, the number of Tetanus cases in the wards at the Teaching hospital is on the increase on a daily basis.

In a bid to ensure that there is an end to this lethal disease in the society, a non-governmental organization - The Nigerian Child Initiative, by partnering with the NobleHeart Children Foundation and Association of Medical Students Unilag, have organized a campaign to End Tetanus.

The campaign is geared towards creating more awareness for the need to be vaccinated against Tetanus, educating the public about the dangers of the disease and actually getting people vaccinated against it.

The program, a health outreach, is set to hold on Saturday, 14th October 2017. A morning awareness walk would preceed the main event of vaccination, at idi-Araba area of Lagos state.
